Orders & customers → Customers. Everything you know about a buyer in one place: their orders, their details, what they’ve spent, and whether they’ve agreed to hear from you.

Buying from you isn’t subscribing

Someone who’s bought from you is not on your marketing list unless they said yes. We check that at the moment we send, not when a campaign was queued — so somebody who unsubscribes today won’t get an email you scheduled last week. And if we can’t establish whether they’re subscribed, we don’t send. Missing an email is fixable; mailing someone who opted out is a complaint. Unsubscribed records stick around as your suppression list. They don’t count toward your contact limit.

Segments

Group customers up for targeting — who gets a campaign, or who an automation applies to.

Your own fields

Add properties that matter to your shop — wholesale tier, preferred size, how they found you — and use them in segments and in email.

It’s your data

Customer records belong to your shop. They aren’t shared with other shops on the platform and they aren’t pooled into some cross-shop profile.

Through the API

Available with the customers:read and customers:write scopes.
A key with customers:read can read your customers’ personal details. Keep it on your server, give it the narrowest scopes that do the job, and replace it if it’s ever been somewhere public.

Email

Campaigns, templates and getting your mail delivered.

Welcomes, post-purchase notes, win-backs.
