Two kinds of email, treated differently
Transactional is the mail a customer is owed — order confirmation, shipping notification, download links. It always sends. It doesn’t need consent, and it’s never held back by a plan limit, because withholding somebody’s receipt over a billing threshold would be indefensible. Marketing is everything else. It needs consent, and it counts toward your contact limit.Who your email comes from
Until you verify a domain of your own, your mail goes out under your shop’s name from our address —"Your Shop" <hello@stashed.one>. Customers see you;
only the address behind it is ours.
Verify your own domain and both change, so it comes from hello@yourshop.com.
Borrowing our address until then isn’t a limitation for its own sake — mail
claiming to come from a domain that hasn’t authorised the sender fails its
checks and lands in spam. Better to send from an address that works.
Where replies go
Set a reply-to on the email settings screen. Leave it blank and we use your account email. Worth setting deliberately: this is the address a customer uses to ask where their parcel is, and your account email might not be the one you want that going to.Verifying your domain
1
Add your domain
On the email settings screen.
2
Add the DNS records at your registrar
Same place you’d manage any other DNS.
3
Wait for it to verify
We only mark it verified when the mail provider confirms it. Their check is
the one that decides whether your mail authenticates, so there’s no point us
saying yes before they have.
Your contact limit
You can have 500 subscribed contacts. Only subscribed ones count — unsubscribed records stick around as your suppression list, and you’re not charged for them. Go over and marketing email pauses. Receipts and shipping notifications carry on as normal.Templates
Emails are built in a visual editor. Duplicate one, edit it, publish it.Open and click tracking are off
You won’t see open rates or click rates. That’s a trade we’ve made on your behalf: click tracking rewrites every link in your email to point at a tracking domain first. It hurts deliverability, and any recipient who hovers a link sees a URL that isn’t yours.Unsubscribes
An unsubscribe link keeps working forever — one in a two-year-old email still does the right thing. We check whether someone is unsubscribed at the moment we send, not when the message was queued. So somebody who opts out today won’t receive a campaign you scheduled last week.Related
